ICE CLIMBING IN LEH

Upon arrival in Leh, check in at your hotel and take the day to rest and acclimatize to the high altitude. In the evening, head out to visit Shanti Stupa, Tsemo Monastery and Leh Market. Overnight stay at Deluxe Hotel.

On the second day, we will take a gentle 3–4 hour acclimatization walk through the peaceful Gangleh Valley, allowing you to adjust to the altitude while enjoying the surrounding landscapes. In the afternoon, we will review and check all necessary equipment to ensure everything is properly prepared for the upcoming Adventure.

Over these five days, you will train and climb on the impressive Gangleh Ice Wall, located close to Leh town. The program begins with a full introduction to basic ice-climbing techniques, including correct use of equipment such as crampons, ice axes, harnesses, and ropes. Safety procedures are thoroughly covered to ensure confidence before moving onto the wall. From the second day onward, you will progressively climb various sections of the ice wall using top-rope belay, allowing you to practice movement, balance, and tool placement on different ice formations. Each day builds on the skills learned previously, helping you gain strength, control, and technique under the guidance of experienced instructors.
On the final day, the focus shifts to lead climbing techniques, where you will learn how to place ice screws, manage rope systems, and climb with greater independence. This structured and hands-on training makes the Gangleh Ice Climbing experience a perfect blend of learning and adventure.
