TRIP OVERVIEW

Dzo Jongo East 6250m expedition is an exciting blend of Himalayan trekking and high-altitude mountaineering, set in the breathtaking landscapes of Ladakh’s Markha Valley. This journey offers a progressive and well-acclimatized approach, beginning with a scenic drive from Leh to Sara village, followed by a gentle introduction to trekking as the route winds through traditional villages like Markha and Hankar. Along the trail, trekkers experience dramatic terrain—frozen rivers, ancient monasteries, towering geological formations, and vibrant wildlife such as blue sheep, Himalayan griffons, and lammergeiers. As the route ascends towards Thachungtse and the high pastures of Nimaling, the views become increasingly majestic, dominated by the imposing presence of Kang Yatse. From here, the trail leads to the Dzo Jongo Base Camp, nestled in a pristine high-altitude setting. The non-technical yet demanding summit push involves a long, steady climb over scree, moraine, and short glacier sections, rewarding climbers with sweeping panoramas of Kang Yatse I & II and the surrounding 6000-meter peaks. With well-timed acclimatization, a buffer day for flexibility, and a spectacular exit over the Kongmaru La Pass, this expedition is perfect for trekkers seeking their first 6000-meter summit in Ladakh’s wild and awe-inspiring landscapes.
