TRIP OVERVIEW

Kang Yatse I Expedition is an exhilarating high–altitude adventure set in the spectacular Markha Valley of Ladakh, India. Rising to nearly 6400 meters, Kang Yatse I is the highest and most technical peak in the Kang Yatse massif, which also includes Kang Yatse II (6250m), III (6280m), and IV (6130m). Surrounding the range are other notable summits such as Dzo Jongo West, Reponi Mallai Ri, Shaldor Kangri, and Gapo Ri—each contributing to the region’s dramatic alpine landscape. As a demanding climb, Kang Yatse I features steep snow and ice slopes, challenging couloirs, crevasses, moraines, and technical rocky sections. It is ideal for experienced mountaineers seeking to build their skills before attempting 7000m or 8000m Himalayan peaks. To ensure a safe and well–acclimatized ascent, this expedition includes two additional high camps established on snow and ice—one above 5500m and another above 6000m, which serves as the summit camp.

From the top, climbers are rewarded with breathtaking 360° vistas of Stok Kangri, Dzo Jongo, and the distant Karakoram Range. The best season for this expedition is July to September, offering the most stable weather window for a successful climb.
